Our why

We have created Salon Five Twelve with you in mind. We wanted to create a salon that people looked forward to coming too. Not only because it’s beautiful, but because of how they felt while they were in our chairs. We asked our team their “why’s” behind becoming a hairdresser and this is what they said: “I wanted to make people feel more beautiful and confident” “I wanted to make a difference in the lives around me” “I want to build relationships and build people up”

We opened our doors because of our why. To create a salon environment where guest want to come to have an experience where they relax, get beautiful. We created this space for our guest, but for also our team. We wanted them to have a space where they were proud to work, where they could live a work-life balance, and be able to fall in love with what they do even more.

Our why is just getting started and we are thankful you are here to be apart of this journey. We are a salon that’s more than just hair, and are so proud of that.

our story

In 2002, Berni opened our first location, Berni Inc. She wanted to open a salon offering a high end experience with a homey feeling in downtown Cumming, Ga. It was founded on passion and love for the beauty industry. It served us 20 beautiful years, and serviced several thousands of guest. It grew from a 1 chair salon into a 7 chair salon, and grew stylist along the way. In 2012, her daughter Jacque, joined her team and eventually became co-owner. This mother daughter duo loves their work behind the chair but also loves investing in their team and in the community.

We have outgrown our Berni Inc location, and in Fall of 2023 we opened our doors to Salon Five Twelve. We created a warm and welcoming environment that allows every customer and employee to walk through the doors, with a sense of comfort, relaxation, and peace while receiving their service. Not only do we strive to create Five- Star Experience for all of our customers, but we also take great pride in developing and educating our staff. In our salon, we work as a team. One stylist can create satisfactory experience for a client, but a team can create a memorable experience providing incomparable service.

One of our favorite parts of what we do is getting to build relationships with our guests. We love getting to make people feel beautiful, valued and confident.

Salon Five Twelve is a 1940 house located blocks away from downtown Cumming.
We fell in love with the history and charm that this house had when you walked through its doors. We saw the salon filled with laughter, conversations, beautiful people and beautiful hair. One and half years of hard work, this house has been transformed into a salon. All new electrical, new paint and flooring. Walls added and removed, bathrooms and kitchen gutted and updated. Fireplace with new tile, popcorn ceilings and florescent lighting removed.

    We’re a salon that is more than hair. We’ve created a place where guest want to come too, because it's an unlike any salon experience before. It is an experience they will remember and look forward to coming back.

    We stay up to date on the newest techniques, learning from the best hairdressers. We will continue to be a salon who prides themselves in education. Most of all, we want to make a difference in the lives around us, and give back to the community.

    We wanted to be a laid back luxury salon, where guest looked forward to come into the salon. We visioned this space with filled with so much happiness, growth and success. We want to be a salon that grows with our stylist during any season of their life while having work-life balance along the way.
